Southern Cross Hospitals moves into preventative care with 50 per cent purchase of MedPro
Southern Cross Hospitals Ltd has completed the purchase of a 50 per cent share in nationwide workplace health service provider MedPro Healthcare. The move is part of the business’ strategy to broaden its offering into illness prevention and early health and wellbeing intervention.
MedPro CEO Bella Winter sees the purchase as a positive step for clients. “MedPro is stronger for partnering with such a trusted New Zealand brand,” she says. “This partnership positions us for growth and development in the future, while enabling us to provide our clients with the same high quality, professional services for which MedPro is known.”
Southern Cross Hospitals CEO Terry Moore says Auckland-based MedPro was a logical partner when the company looked at expanding to workplace-based healthcare services. “MedPro has an excellent reputation and is a brand trusted by many employers throughout the country,” he says. “Together we will seek to enhance and expand the workplace health services MedPro already provides.”
This is the second acquisition in Southern Cross Hospitals’ strategy to broaden its offering. Two years ago the business purchased a 50 per cent share of high quality physiotherapy and rehabilitation provider TBI Health. TBI’s services are provided in private hospitals, to DHBs, ACC patients and in residential care homes and workplaces.
